Our goal with beginner lessons is to teach our students the fundamental steps to stand up on a surf board in the white water, position your body correctly, and feel calm and confident in the waves.  The Chorotegas approach is all about teaching our students how to tune into your surf board, breathe, and feel the ocean on an intuitive level. We also talk about surf etiquette and how to turtle roll the board so you are ready to head out to the green waves.

Intermediate lessons build on the basic steps you have already learned, and now you are ready for outside green waves. We use surf specific yoga stretches to prep your muscles, and build strength for paddling. While waiting for sets to come we talk about how to predict where a wave will break and where you need to position yourself to catch it.  Knowing where to be in the line up, surf etiquette, being respectable and friendly in the water, and how to ride the face of the wave is what we will learn. When you fall, we help you with techniques for holding your breath and relaxing.

Advanced lessons focus on techniques to maneuver through the green waves such as going up and down the face, pumping your board for more power, snaps, carving, cutbacks, floaters, barrels and more. 

Our 2 hour session enables us to spend more time in the water and also analyze your video and use graphic materials to explain techniques.
